Cap and Gown Information (8th grade)
Graduation is just around the corner! Attached is a letter for parents regarding number of tickets provided to each student, cost of cap and gown, and how you would like your students name printed on the diploma. If we do not receive this information back before April 7th, 2017 we will use your students name as it is in Skyward. In addition, please understand if we do not receive payment for the cap and gown, unfortunately your student will not be allowed to participate in graduation.
We are issuing five tickets for family/friends per student. Please know each individual attending the graduation will need a ticket to enter. If you are not planning on using all of the tickets provided, please return them to the main office so we can redistribute tickets to other families. If you are planning on having more than five members of your family attend the graduation, you may contact Mrs. Burdett in the main office who will add you to a waiting list. Depending on the number of tickets we receive back and the number of request will determine how we distribute the extra tickets.

8th Grade Graduation Ceremony Requirements
The following information is found in our Student/Parent Handbook
GRADUATION CEREMONY PARTICIPATION-MIDDLE SCHOOL
In order to participate in the Graduation Ceremony at Big Hollow Middle School, 8th Grade students must be in compliance with the Academic Point System. Students must have 10 or less accumulated points based upon the following criteria:
Any F= 1 Academic Point-Calculated just for 8th Grade year at the end of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th nine week terms) Students who accumulate more than 10 Academic Points will not be allowed to participate in the ceremonies
Any student passing all classes in any of the 2nd, 3rd or 4th nine week terms is eligible to erase two accumulated Academic Points that were previously accumulated Example: If a student gets 4 F’s during the 1st quarter he/she will have accumulated 4 Academic Points. However, if he/she passes all of his/her classes the next quarter, he/she can remove 2 Academic Points from his/her total. This gives incentive for a student who may have exceeded the 10 points to work hard and earn some back in order to participate in the ceremony. If the student passes all classes 3rd quarter, they will have an additional 2 points removed. This system does not determine whether or not a student will be retained and/or receive a diploma.
